Monster.com, whose proposal to share recruitment revenue with newspapers has had only one taker so far, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, hopes to do better in the suburban newspaper market.
Jeff Taylor, founder of the online job site, was slated to make his pitch last week to executives at a Suburban Newspapers of America conference.
Monster sees such partnerships as a way to improve its local reach when the weak job market has cut into profits at parent company TMP Worldwide Inc. Indeed, TMP has been laying off workers itself as it reported lower fourth-quarter earnings and cut its first-quarter profit forecast, according to news reports.
