Some of the Morris Communications newspapers will funnel local news to MSNBC.com, under a deal announced this week. MSNBC.com now carries local news from 79 newspapers, 104 TV stations, and 13 radio stations.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Twenty Morris properties will provide local content to MSNBC.com, including the Juneau (Alaska) Empire, The St. Augustine (Fla.) Record, The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle, The Topeka (Kans.) Capital-Journal, and the Yankton (S.D.) Daily Press & Dakotan.
In exchange, MSNBC.com promises to send traffic to these newspapers’ Web sites. MSNBC.com says its affiliate network receives 3.4 million unique users monthly.
