Early Sept. 20, a motorcyclist was hospitalized with possible broken bones after crashing into a pickup truck driven by a newspaper deliverer in Clay Township, Ohio.
“As he was coming around the corner, there was a newspaper delivery guy on the wrong side of the road,” Clay Township police Officer Steve Hodge is quoted saying by Cox Media’s Dayton-based WHIO TV on its Website.
Police said the newspaper delivery driver tried to steer his vehicle onto the right side of the road and the motorcyclist tried to swerve away from the truck before hitting it on the driver’s side.
Investigators said that rather than deliver newspapers to front porches, carriers in rural areas with long driveways usually put copies in mailboxes that often are across the street from the houses.
A police officer said the newspaper delivery man would be cited for being on the wrong side of the road.
