Polopoly, Atex’s Web content-management system division, based in Stockholm, Sweden, announced the launch of the site Daily49er, the college media publication at California State Long Beach. It is to be followed by 550 other mtvU Polopoly-powered sites, covering most major U.S. colleges and universities.

The Polopoly solution will reach 5.5 million students and an average of 5 million unique users each month, according to Atex. Part of Viacom, the mtvU/College Media Network is the largest interactive network of online college newspapers in the United States.

In addition to the College Media Network, the largest interactive network of online college newspapers, mtvU also owns and operates and RateMyProfessors.com and the mtvU television network, which broadcasts to more than 750 colleges across the country. In September 2005, mtvU became the first MTV Networks channel to also be distributed in its entirety online as a 24/7 simulcast, available on demand and featuring all the on-air content plus exclusive new music, original series and student-produced programming.
