To optimize inserting for the Daily News, Si-Phya Publishing Co., Bangkok, Thailand, has installed the first two Muller Martini ProLiners in Asia. Assembled and tested at Muller Martini’s plant in Switzerland before delivery, the two ProLiners were commissioned at the end of May.
Each equipped with four feeders, theProLiners support three types of production. Often jacketed with a heatset commercial product, the Daily News, can run to 40 pages. One option is to open the two-page or four-page carrier and combine it, a the inserter, with the newspaper coming off the press, then re-open the combined product in order to insert two editorial or commercial inserts at the third and fourth feeders.
An alternative approach places both inserts in the carrier alongside the newspaper, with no second opening.
Conventional inserting also is possible by placing the two inserts in the newspaper without a carrier.
