The New York Post will adopt EidosMedia’s Web content-management system for production of nypost.com, the mobile site m.nypost.com and other Web sites.
The Post’s main portal is among the top-10 U.S. news sites, with more than four million unique users and 56 million page views per day.
“We are expecting the Methode platform to streamline our news authoring processes, reduce our time to market and boost productivity across the board,” Post Digital Media Vice President Chris Shaw said in a statement. Methode, he added, “is not only going to open up many more creative opportunities for our staff, but it will allow our users to become more intimately involved with nypost.com.”
The Methode Portal Server is a Web CMS powered by the same cross-media editorial and publishing platform recently been adopted by The Wall Street Journal for print and online operations.
As well as intelligent caching that maximizes throughput for news sites during heavy visitor demand, the portal server incorporates in one platform many Web and Web 2.0 functionalities, including forums, reader comments, story ratings and online polls, as well as blog-hosting and incorporation of user-generated content.
Methode will serve the online editorial and production staff in the New York Post newsroom, where it will replace a CMS based on proprietary applications from different vendors.
