The Newspaper Association of America announced today the finalists for the ATHENA Awards honoring creative excellence in newspaper advertising.
Twenty-nine ads from 20 companies and two college advertising programs will compete for gold, silver, and bronze prizes to be awarded on Sept. 28 during Advertising Week in New York. The NAA received about 1,000 entries. This year includes a new category dedicated to multicultural advertising.
The Best in Show winner will receive an endowment in its name supporting the print advertising curriculum at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Adcenter in Richmond, Va. Funding is provided by the NAA. Last year’s winner was the firm Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
