(AP) The Native American Journalists Association has hired a veteran reporter as its interim director for the next year.
Kim Baca is a former wire service and newspaper reporter and a longtime member of the group that represents American Indian journalists from around the country.
Its office is at the University of South Dakota.
Baca most recently was a communications specialist and a legislative assistant at the National American Indian Housing Council. She previously was a reporter for the El Paso Times, Santa Fe New Mexican and The Associated Press.
Baca, who is Navajo and Santa Clara Pueblo, replaces Ron Walters, who resigned in May.
