(The Hollywood Reporter) NBC, which hired ex-CNN anchor Lou Dobbs in October as a producer,
has taken a minority stake in Dobbs’ outer space Web portal, Space.com.
Financial details of the transaction weren’t disclosed. In exchange for the stake, NBC will
provide Space.com with cash and advertising time across NBC media properties. NBC also gets
distribution rights to Space.com content, and the two companies will explore further
promotional, marketing, and content distribution partnerships.
NBC’s investment in the Internet start-up is ‘totally separate’ from the agreement Dobbs
inked with NBC in October, Space.com spokeswoman Toni DiMartino says. Dobbs left CNN on bitter
terms in June after a nearly 20-year run with the cable network to become chairman and CEO of
