Register-control and plate-automation company Nela, Oakdale, Minn., listed new sales and installations for the first half of the year.
Nela sold new punch/benders for plate handling to The New York Times, which will use the equipment at its College Point plant for new and existing Goss presses. In nearby Jersey City, N.J., Nela upgraded punch/benders at the New York Daily News to handle high-speed output from new Krause/Fuji CTP devices. Krause/Fuji violet-laser devices also feed plates to Nela punch/benders at the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The Denver Newspaper Agency installed punch/benders in connection with Kodak Trendsetter News thermal CTP devices, along with a plate-delivery system into the pressroom and PLT pre-loaders for the Trendsetters.
The Houston Chronicle installed Nela punch/benders with a plate stacker in connection with Agfa Polaris violet CTP devices, while Post Newsweek Media installed punch/benders with a plate-delivery system to transport plates into the pressroom for its Mitsubishi press. The in-line system is connected to three Agfa Advantage CTP devices.
Nela also has orders for punch/benders from Gannett Offset, Springfield, Va., the Chicago Tribune,
The Rochester (Minn.) Post Bulletin, and the Austin (Texas) American Statesman, which will install punch/benders in connection with Kodak Trendsetter News CTP devices.
Other sales include the Frederick (Md.) News Post, Palm Beach Post, Wichita Falls (Texas) Times, Las Vegas Review-Journal, Birmingham (Ala.) News, Janesville (Wis.) Gazette, Orange County (Calif.) Register, Savannah Morning News, Tacoma News Tribune, Rome’s La Prensa, and El Nuevo Diaro, Managua, Nicaragua.
Additionally, Nela reported lock sales to the Tampa Tribune, Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch, and Winston-Salem (N.C.) Journal (all Media General dailies), Tribune Co.’s Newport News, Va., Daily Press, McClatchy Co.’s Anchorage Daily News, Freedom Communications’ Daily Press, Victorville, Calif., Paxton media’s flagship, The Paducah (Ky.) Sun.
