Paul Taylor has been named the new circulation director for The Tribune in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
Taylor comes to the 39,167-circulation daily (43,944 Sundays) from the Missoulian and Ravalli Republic in Missoula, Mont., where he was circulation sales manager and single-copy sales manager for five years. The two Lee Enterprises-owned papers had a combined circulation of about 42,000.
The Missoulian won the Newspaper Association of America?s 2003 Newspaper Merchandiser of the Year Award, with contributions from Taylor including an initiative to place 200,000 copies of the paper in Montana hotels and a collaboration with chain store marketing managers to drive sales of the paper. Taylor says he will work to make The Tribune available in more locations.
Taylor, 35, replaces Jeff Brinley, who resigned in October 2005 to become circulation director for the Idaho Statesman in Boise. Before joining the Missoulian, Taylor was circulation manager at Steamboat Today in Colorado, and graduated in 1993 from Montana State University.
