A faster violet platesetter, as well as workflow automation, production management and MediaSuite software are being introduced by alfaQuest Technologies Inc., Rolling Meadows, Ill.
The 225-plate-per-hour speed of the new FasTrak CTP/V 225 is based on 12-inch metro plates imaged at 1016 dpi resolution. The company now offers CTP imagers in four speeds for violet-sensitive plates.
The automated CTP Workflow is a modular and scalable solution for OS X and Windows that incorporates RIP-once, output-many technology and features single-page processing for post-RIP proofing and post-RIP page pairing and imposition. Multiple levels of in-line halftone dot soft proofing are included (also available with Internet soft proofing). Other features are PDF 1.2-1.6 preflighting, RGB-to-CYMK conversion, type conversion to 100% black, native processing of transparency layers, and accurate font emulation.
Options include stochastic screening, TrapProFull, CIP3 ink presetting, ColorPro ICC color management and JDF enabler.
PrintExpress consolidated production management gets a Web client that provides al configuration, status and proofing views suing any network browser. A new Print Manager module offers tools to define a press configuration and identify each press tower and plate position – useful in applying proper fan-out-compensation values.
The alfaMedia Suite provides one multimedia management interface for controlling distribution of digital assets to print, Web, RSS feed, audio/podcast, SMS and other channels.
