Donald H. Kausler, Jr. has been promoted from managing editor to editor of the Anderson (S.C.) Independent-Mail, effective August 12.
As editor, he will oversee all newsroom operations and other print editorial products published by the paper.
Kausler also joined the Independent-Mail?s executive management committee, which assists in setting the newspaper?s editorial policy. It also manages new product development and strategic planning.
“Don’s leadership as managing editor has been instrumental in all of the Independent-Mail’s design, content and special features changes during the past five years,” Fred L. Foster, president and publisher of the newspaper, said in a statement. “He has the ability, talent and commitment to continuous improvement and a keen understanding of the value of local news. Don excels at editing a newspaper that readers look forward to reading every day.”
Kausler has taken on many different news and sports roles throughout his career at newspapers like the Milwaukee Sentinel, The Birmingham (Ala.) News, and the Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune. Prior to coming to the Independent-Mail, he worked for The Birmingham (Ala.) Post- Herald.
