Turner Broadcasting has picked up broadcast rights to the new “Garfield” series from France’s Dargaud Media and plans to start airing it on the Cartoon Network next year, reported Animation Magazine.

Dargaud is producing 52 high-definition, 11-minute installments of the series — which will also air in Europe, the Mideast, Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The “Garfield” comic, which reached its 30th anniversary last month, runs in more than 2,500 newspapers worldwide via Universal Press Syndicate.
