Intersecting Journalism, Technology Are Focus
The University of Denver’s School of Communication announced that it’s forming a new center for
journalism and new media.
The Edward W. Estlow International Center for Journalism and New Media was created to address
the growing impact of information technology and the World Wide Web on traditional media.
‘We hope the center will become the primary clearinghouse for information about the interplay
between journalism and new media for academia, industry, and the community,’ says Mike Wirth,
director of the School of Communication.
Initial plans include hiring an executive director, creating a Web site, and commissioning a
number of articles and commentaries on issues in online journalism.
The Estlow Center has received funding from the Estlow Endowment, totaling almost $1.3 million,
which was established in 1985.
