Tribune Media Services announced today that, effective immediately, Walter Mahoney will be vice president of global information services and John Twohey will be vice president for news and features.
The moves complete a reorganization of TMS that began in late 2005. At that time, the company centralized the editing and distribution of its features to domestic and international clients with a single management team based in Chicago. TMS managers in Chicago and Los Angeles previously shared responsibility for these functions. (The Los Angeles Times Syndicate had been merged with TMS after the Tribune Co. acquired Times Mirror in 2000.)
Mahoney joined TMS in 1974, and eventually became vice president for worldwide sales and what’s now known as McClatchy-Tribune Information Services in 2004.
In 1977, Twohey joined the editorial department of the Chicago Tribune, where he held positions such as associate managing editor for features, sports editor, Sunday magazine editor, editor of the Op-Ed page, and design director. Most recently, he served as vice president for editorial and operations at TMS.
