In the latest shift in a spate of reshuffling following the recent merger of Village Voice Media and New Times, Village Voice publisher Judy Mizner will be replaced by Michael Cohen, the publisher of the Miami New Times, beginning Monday.

Cohen, 41, has been publisher in Miami for about a decade and has been involved with alternative weeklies for 22 years. He helped Russ Smith launch the New York Press in 1988, providing competition that helped pressure the Voice to move to free circulation.

Mizner, who served as Voice publisher for seven years, wrote in her farewell e-mail, “Through it all, you have shown unsurpassed loyalty and commitment to the Voice. I am confident that a successful future lies ahead for you in the new organization and wish you the best of luck.”

Don Forst resigned his position as Voice editor in December, and has been replaced temporarily by Managing Editor Doug Simmons, although the post remains officially unfilled.
