NEW YORK (March 24, 2011) – The New York Daily News and Long Island Press today announced that New York’s Hometown Newspaper will print Long Island’s largest weekly newspaper on its state-of-the-art, high-volume full-color press equipment.
The Long Island Press began printing its full run of 80,000 copies on the Daily News presses for today’s March 24th edition. In addition to printing, the Daily News will also provide a full package of pre-press and post-press services, and advertising inserting with its top-of-the-line inserting equipment from FERAG.
“The Long Island Press is thrilled to offer our readers and advertisers an enhanced print experience with the capability for full-color on every page using the Daily News‘ one-of-a-kind printing facility,” said Steven McKenna, General Manager of Long Island Press. “We look forward to the great opportunities that this business move creates for our publication with increased print quality, advanced inserting options and improved distribution.”
“The Daily News may be best-known as New York’s Hometown Newspaper, but we also provide full service printing on our brand new color presses, revenue-enhancing packaging and distribution solutions to other publishers,” said James Brill, SVP of Operations at the Daily News. “We can provide publishers like the Long Island Press full pre-press, printing, inserting and distribution packages with unrivaled print quality and expertise.”
In 2009, the Daily News became the first major market daily newspaper in the United States to be produced in 100% color on its new press equipment manufactured by KBA, a global leader in printing technology. The KBA presses, which are capable of replicating any color in the Pantone color spectrum, have provided Daily News advertisers with unprecedented opportunities to run high-resolution, full-color images on any page in the paper, in any size and on any day of the week. In addition to unlimited color capacity, the presses provide top-quality reproduction, stitching and complete flexibility for last minute updates and content changes.
The Queens Courier became the first commercial printing client of the Daily News in the summer of 2010, bringing progressive technology and state-of-the-art printing to its readers and advertisers. The Daily News currently prints the Queens Courier’s entire group of publications, including The Queens Courier, Courier Sun and El Correo de Queens.
