In Tuesday?s Washington Post, staff writer Frank Ahrens confirmed his co-workers? suspicions that Rupert Murdoch?s New York Post has begun home-delivery of its paper in the Washington-Baltimore area.
The New York City paper, a famed tabloid publication, began printing at presses owned by The Sun in Baltimore this past summer, a New York Post spokeswoman told Ahrens. Washington Post reporters, said Ahrens, began receiving phone calls soliciting the New York Post?s home delivery in the Washington area and started getting curious.
The Post?s spokeswoman told Ahrens that similar calls are made in Florida and California where the Posts? parent company, NewsCorp Inc., has satellite-printing operations. Home delivery of the New York Post is available in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Philadelphia, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Virginia, Maryland, Florida, California, Nevada, and, now, Washington DC.
While Ahrens fear of world domination may be a bit in jest (?Should we be frightened? Does Murdoch have his eye on the capital of the free world? Another step in his insidious plan for world domination??), the paper is definitely increasing its circulation.
