NewspaperDirect Inc., Vancouver, B.C., is introducing its PressDisplay.com online news portal on the iRex digital reader at this year’s Monaco Media Forum this week in Monte-Carlo.
When run on the Digital Reader 1000 series from iRex Technologies, a 2005 spin-off from Royal Philips Electronics in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, PressDisplay.com’s PressReader software will allow readers to download their favorite dailies in seconds and read them at their leisure.
PressDisplay.com and NewspaperDirect’s other distribution channels (including libraries, hotels, cruise ships and custom-publishing solutions) provide publishers (at no additional cost) with more ways to reach readers. The lightweight, portable iRex DR1000 features a large electronic display that is as sharp and natural as ink on paper, without a computer screen’s glare.
For release next month, the iRex DR1000 joins other handheld devices on which PressDisplay.com is available, offering 800-plus newspapers and magazines from more than 80 countries. These (including Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, BlackBerry and various “smart phones.”
