Newsday Journalists Sandra Peddie and Alejandra Villa Honored with Front Page Awards by the Newswomen’s Club of New York

Melville, NY, November 11, 2011 –  Newsday journalists Sandra Peddie and Alejandra Villa have been honored by the Newswomen’s Club of New York with Front Page Awards. The Front Page Awards recognize female journalists in the New York tri-state area for their work in print, broadcast and online media. The awards were presented last night at the Front Page Awards Gala at the Downtown Association in Manhattan.

Sandra Peddie received her award in the Newspaper/In-Depth Reporting category for her investigative reports on legislative and policy issues in Suffolk County. Alejandra Villa was recognized in both the Photography/Photo Essay and Online/Digital Video categories for her work on the “Marissa” project, which chronicles the story of a young Long Islander with an extremely rare disease.
