Family-owned Lancaster (Pa.) Newspapers Inc., publisher of mid-sized morning and afternoon dailies, chose TeamPlayer software from NewsEngin, Chesterfield, Mo., for its new online high school sports site.
Lancaster Newspapers this fall launched L-L League Insider, an online guide to all area prep sports. The site includes stories, schedules, scores, photos, videos and team and player stats.
“We wanted to provide every statistic that sports fans could want,” as well as “photographs and social networking information,” Lancaster New Era Editor Ernie Schreiber said in a statement. “With TeamPlayer we can provide a wealth of statistics online that we never had space to provide in the newspaper.”
Browser-based TeamPlayer can collect, organize and automatically reverse-publish all of a region’s high school sports scores and statistics for teams and players. It “automatically and constantly updates L-L League Insider as new games, scores and stats enter the system,” said NewsEngin President George Landau.
The application can extend a Web site’s range — from dynamic team rankings and individual player totals, to searches for individual player bios and rosters. TeamPlayer creates additional advertising opportunities because of the increased readership it draws and because it respects a Web site’s branding and design, according to NewsEngin.
The software can export formatted text to print and the Web, even when the platforms use different formats and have different presentations. Its user-management toolkit allows schools to manage scores and statistics for their teams as well as information about players and rosters.
Organizations can host TeamPlayer of rely on NewsEngin’s managed hosting, with guaranteed uptime and unlimited use.
