Newseum Seeks 9/11 Photos Of Journalists

By: Dorothy Ho

(Photo District News) The Newseum of Arlington, Va., is looking for images of journalists and photographers taken on Sept. 11 for a book on journalists in New York City; Washington, D.C.; and Pennsylvania who covered the terror attacks.

In particular, the organization is looking for images of the “impromptu media center” that appeared at the Citgo Gas Station on a hill above the Pentagon, journalists interviewing then-Mayor Rudy Guiliani, photographers taking images of or running from the collapsing buildings, and the long lines in New York City to get press credentials for ground zero. The photographs should have been taken on Sept. 11 or 12.

Deadline is March 30. Photographers who have images of their peers at work should send the photographs to Karen Wyatt, director of visual resources. Any format is OK, although digital high-resolution scans are preferred. The Newseum will return prints. E-mail images to Wyatt at or call her at (703) 284-3727.
