The McNaughton family owns 100% of their three California newspaper companies, having bought out minority shareholder Bernice Hancock of Dana Point, Calif., last month. The companies own the dailies in Fairfield and Davis and several weeklies.
Terms were not disclosed. Bakersfield broker Gregg K. Knowles represented Hancock in the deal.
In Minnesota, Alfred L. Klein bought the Martin County Star in Sherburn, where he served as ad manager. He now holds the publisher title. Formerly known as the West Martin Weekly News, the Star consolidated several former Martin County papers.
Brokering the sale by David Parker was Northwest Publishers Inc. Terms were not disclosed.
