TARENTUM — Suzanne Cargile was worried about how she was going to get her fruits and vegetables this winter.
Cargile usually gets her produce from the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches “Produce for People,” a program providing local, low-income residents with free fresh produce.
The program, which the Council of Churches started last March, normally distributes fresh fruits and vegetables from the Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church parking lot in Harrison. But with cold weather on the horizon, organizers feared they’d soon have to stop distribution.
