A San Angelo Standard-Times delivery truck driven by an employee struck and killed a woman on the newspaper’s editorial advisory board Wednesday, police said.
Judy Niemann, 70, was walking across the street on her way to a meeting at the newspaper when the driver of the truck turned left and struck her. She was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital, police said.
The driver, Mario Martinez, 42, was issued a ticket for failure to yield right of way on a left turn, police spokesman Lt. Curtis Milbourn said in a news release.
The editorial board is made up of the newspaper’s editor, opinion editor and a panel of community volunteers, which included Niemann, the newspaper said.
