U.S. dailies used 759,000 metric tons of newsprint in June, 1.6% more than a year earlier, according to the Newspaper Association of America. Publishers’ end-of-month newsprint inventories totaled 984,000 tons (a 39-day supply), a 5% decline from the 1,036,000 tons (42 days) in June 1998.
