Newsroom Changes at ‘Times Herald’ of Port Huron (Mich.)

The Times Herald of Port Huron, Mich., has announced several changes to its newsroom. Michael Eckert will become assistant managing editor; he has worked at the Herald for 16 years, and was mostly recently the photo and graphics editor. His new role will involve expanding the paper?s Web content, as well as working directly with the Herald staff.

Tony Pitts, an award-winning photojournalist, will become news editor at the Herald. Pitts was formerly the chief photographer for the paper, for which he has worked since 1992.

Ann Beebe will assume the role of special sections editor. Her chief responsibility will be the supervision of the Spin, Living Well, and At Home magazines, along with all other special sections that the paper produces. Beebe was formerly the planning editor at the Herald.

Mark Rummel has been appointed chief photographer, taking over Pitts? former post. Rummel has been with the paper since 1998.

Finally, Angela Mullins has been named city editor for the Herald. Since 2002, she has served as a reporter and assistant city editor.
