The Sun Media subsidiary of Canada’s Quebecor is consolidating printing of The Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune at the latter’s more modern plant. Both newspapers have run Goss Urbanite presses.
The Review reports today that that the action aims to “improve reproduction quality and ease the strain on delivery schedules” for the Ontario daily. Three of its press operators will work in nearby Welland, and Sun Media is looking for positions for the four others, according to the Review.
Publisher Dave Martineau told his paper its press was breaking down often and lacked color flexibility needed for advertising.
The paper also reports that the Review-based circulation service center for the Osprey papers acquired by Sun Media has been moved to a Sun Media facility outside of Ottawa.
