Nine newspaper printers have adopted production hardware, software and consumables from Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N.Y.
Times Journal Inc., Marietta, Ga., purchased Trendsetter News 70 and News 50 thermal platesetters, Prinergy Evo workflow system, Preps imposition software and Thermalnews Gold digital plates to print its suburban-Atlanta group of two dailies and 26 weeklies.
The Mount Vernon (Ohio) News, a PAGE Co-op member, bought a Trendsetter News 50, Prinergy Evo and Preps software, and PF-N non-process plates for production of the 9,300-circulation daily, 27,000-circulation weekly shopper and various commercial jobs.
The Repository, Canton, Ohio, is adding two Trendsetter News 150 platesetters to handle the 65,789 circulation daily (78,066 Sundays), as well as printing of The New York Times, various weeklies and commercial jobs.
The Press-Enterprise Co., Riverside, Calif., added a Trendsetter 400 III Quantum platesetter to the Kodak solutions it already uses to print the 188,000 circulation daily and commercial jobs.
Other sites adding Kodak solutions are: The Commercial Appeal, Memphis (two V speed Generation News platesetters and NS digital newspaper plates); Gannett Missouri Publishing Inc., which produces the Springfield News-Leader and other titles (two Trendsetter News 150 imagers and NS plates); Osteen Publishing Co., Sumter, S.C., which prints The Item (Trendsetter News 50, Prinrergy Evo, Preps, PF-N plates); Ogden Newspapers’ House of Print, Madelia, Minn., Trendsetter News 100, Prinrergy Evo, Staccato screening, Preps, and the Insite prepress portal system; Signature Offset, Las Cruces, N.M., (Trendsetter News 70 and NS plates).
