An exhibit focusing on the work of Doug Marlette is running through Sept. 14 at the Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, N.C.

Marlette — a North Carolina native who died last July in a Mississippi car crash — was a Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist, the creator of the “Kudzu” comic strip, and a novelist.

The opening reception featured a talk by Washington Post Writers Group columnist Kathleen Parker, who was a friend of Marlette’s.
