New York’s Daily News purchased three LS Jet 300V platesetters with BlueFin 650 processors from Krause-Biagosch GmbH, Bielefeld, Germany. The computer-to-plate lines will be driven by Krause JetNet workflow software.
Imaging Fuji LP-NNV violet digital plates, each line will operate at approximately 280 plates per hour, according to Krause.
The selection was made after a 15-month evaluation of CTP solutions, according to Daily News senior vice president, operations, who cited the Krause system’s quality of output and easy operation and maintenance.
The Krause equipment will deliver plates to the Daily News’ existing Nela punch-benders, which are to be upgraded for higher speed. Brill said in a statement that the paper will gain 20% to 25% production time in platemaking compared with competing solutions.
According to the manufacturer, Daily News manufacturing Vice President Chris Baker was the first to buy a high-speed Krause newspaper plateline, about 25 years ago.
