(AP) The New York Times Co. said Monday it has named P. Steven Ainsley, 49, president and chief operating officer of its regional newspaper group.
The newspaper publisher said Ainsley will succeed Lynn O. Matthews, 57, when he retires at the end of the year.
Ainsley had been senior vice president for the regional newspaper group, which is made up of 15 southeastern papers. It accounted for about $427 million of the company’s $3 billion in revenue last year.
The New York Times Co. publishes The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and 16 other newspapers. It also owns eight network-affiliated television stations and two New York radio stations.
