The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group has purchased the Publicus Online Publishing System from SaxoTech, a supplier of Web production systems in Scandinavia and North America.
SaxoTech Chief Operating Officer Anders Christiansen said the agreement is the company’s largest to date in North America. The company’s other clients include The Blade in Toledo, Ohio, and Swift Newspapers Inc. of Reno, Nev.
Bruce Kyse, vice president of news and new media for the Times regional group, said in a statement that the Publicus system will centralize Web site production and management. Among the 13 dailies in the chain are The Gainesville (Fla.) Sun, Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, Wilmington (N.C.) Morning Star, and Herald-Journal of Spartanburg, S.C.
