NYT Denies Hacking Email of Goldman Sachs Trader

By: Dylan Stableford | The Cutline

New York Times reporters Louise Story and Gretchen Morgenson published on Wednesday their investigation into Goldman Sachs trader Fabrice Tourre–“the only individual at Goldman and across Wall Street sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission for helping to sell a mortgage-securities investment, in one of the hundreds of mortgage deals created during the bubble years.”

In their breakdown of Tourre’s activities, Story and Morgenson explained in somewhat torturous detail how they obtained emails intended for Tourre. The piece explained that the correspondence was “provided to The New York Times by Nancy Cohen, an artist and filmmaker in New York also known as Nancy Koan, who says she found the materials in a laptop she had been given by a friend in 2006.”
