Its Sunday magazine’s early deadline played havoc with The New York Times this week, as its edition tomorrow is devoted almost entirely to its annual tribute to the famous and influential who passed away in the past year — but misses out on Gerald R. Ford and James Brown.
While that seems understandable, it was odd that the paper, in its Saturday paper, ran an editor’s note explaining that it had missed out on Ford because of the deadline — but made no mention of Brown at all.
Not to mention Saddam Hussein.
Featured pieces in the issue include Frank Rich on Wendy Wasserstein, Chuck Klosterman on Eugene Landy and Syd Barrett, Michael Sokolove on Steve Howe, and Anthony Giardina on June Allyson and Glenn Ford.
