NYTimes.com, the Web site of the New York Times, has ramped up its online coverage of the upcoming 2007 Academy Awards.

A new “Awards Season” site has been launched to give 24/7 coverage of events leading up to the awards ceremony, and will host columnist David Carr’s “Carpetbagger” blog posts from the Kodak Theater on the night of the awards ceremony.

According to a release, the site will offer “a vantage point on everything from the stars, the films and the fashions to analysis through the site?s daily postings, blogs, multimedia, current and archived articles and columns, and increased interactivity, such as informal voting on the Academy?s most popular categories from Best Picture to Visual Effects.”

The site will also host Jake Paltrow’s film “The First Ones”, which is a series of interviews with Oscar contenders and other notable performers from 2006.
