Sprint PCS Wireless Web To Carry NYTimes.com Content

New York Times Digital yesterday launched NYT Mobile, a 24-hour news and information service built on Wireless Application Protocol (WAP).

The New York Times’ Internet division is also delivering NYTimes.com content through Sprint PCS and its Wireless Web Browser. Accessible in the “News and Weather” category, NYTimes.com is providing daily top stories, international news, political news, technology news, business and financial news, sports news, and book reviews.

NYT Mobile, powered by wireless provider i3 Mobile, is accessible by keying wap.nytimes.com into any WAP-enabled mobile phone. NYT Mobile also plans to make the content compatible with Short Messaging Service (SMS) as well.

Other NYT Digital partnerships on the wireless frontier include AvantGo, SkyTel, OmniSky, Vindigo, and Palm VII.
