The Orange County Register is using ImageRecall image-recovery software since its technical staff noticed that some digital images were being lost to accidental deletions, corrupted memory cards, and errors caused by fast-writing professional cameras. The situation improved when several staff photographers tested ImageRecall.

Installed on all Register news photographers’ PowerBook G4s, ImageRecall also is used by photo editors for big events, such as the Super Bowl and Academy Awards. Pictures are e-mailed to the paper using a WiFi connection. According to distributor FlashFixers, ImageRecall recovers all camera image formats from all memory card types and manufacturers, and in most cases can recover lost images.

Register Publishing Systems Analyst Curt Norris said ImageRecall is simple to install and allows photographers to “easily perform their own recoveries without coming back to the office for help.” The $39.95 product is Mac and Windows compatible.

FlashFixers, which specializes in retrieving images and other data from removable media, sells and supports ImageRecall in North America at www.flashfixers.com by exclusive arrangement with ImageRecall and Media Innovations Group.
