The Orange County Register reported today that its publisher plans to publish the OC Post, a new full-color tabloid for ?people on the go.?
N. Christian Anderson III announced that the Post is scheduled to begin its Monday through Saturday publication on Aug. 21. The paper will be in a slimmer format for easier reading, and will be available for both home delivery and newsstand sales. A staff of 20 will transpose many of the stories that appear in the Register into more concise versions, which will then be published in the Post.
Initial circulation is projected at 150,000, which is roughly half of the Register?s circulation. Anderson would not give a direct quote on the cost of the Post, but mentioned that it ?would be less than the Register.?
Anderson stated that the target audience for this new venture is one that is interested in local news, but too occupied to read a traditionally sized paper or go online to search for the news.
The OC Post will join Freedom Orange County Information, which is a division of the Register?s parent company, Freedom Communications Inc. of Irvine, Calif.
