Orange County Register recently launched OCmoms.com, a Web site to serve the needs and interests of moms in Orange County. It is also a social networking site where local moms can interact with one another.

Categorized information on the site is designed to appeal to a wide range of women, from those trying to get pregnant to mothers sending their kids off to college.

A weekly ocmoms newsletter is also available through the OCmoms.com site.

Journalists at the Register and local experts produce feature articles for OCmoms.com, as well as blog posts within The Mom Blog, which launched on OCRegister.com in February. The Dad Blog is also available on the site, which contains perspectives from local dads. Artist Amy Ning creates a weekly illustration called The Missing Sock.

Interactive elements include the Your 2 Cents poll, a Things to do calendar of events where moms can self-publish event listings, and the Can we talk? forum, which contains everything from neighborhood sales to best places to coordinate play dates.
