The OCRegister.com launched ?audio news and podcasts? a service that lets users select and listen to news summaries published in The Orange County (Calif.) Register and its Web site.
The service is free and is available at the paper’s Web site or through ?audio news? links and banners on the Web site. Podcasts will cover areas in news, business, sports, lifestyle, and entertainment.
?The OCRegister.com audio news and podcasts service is a convenient way for busy people to connect to the Register?s news and information,? said Terry Moore, deputy editor for online at Freedom Orange County Information which publishes the Register, in a statement.
The Register partnered with Taldia, a company that converts daily news text to audio. The Register provides Taldia content every day after midnight through RSS feeds. Taldia then uses its own voice talent to produce the summaries. The audio links are posted to the site by 6 a.m.
The audio clips also contain pre-run advertisements sold by Taldia or the Register. Ad revenue is shared between the partners.
