Michigan State Police are reviewing allegations a trooper erased photos of a fatal motorcycle accident from a reporter’s camera.

Capt. Harold Love said Wednesday he is looking into Diane Bukowski’s claim that photos of the accident were deleted. Bukowski was working as a freelancer for the Michigan Citizen weekly newspaper.

Bukowski was arrested Nov. 4 in Detroit on accusations she failed to leave the scene of the accident that killed two people. She is charged with assaulting, resisting and obstructing an officer.

Bukowski’s attorney, John Royal, says the trooper admits in a report to deleting one or two shots.

Royal quotes the report as saying the pictures were deleted so the motorcyclist’s family wouldn’t see published versions of the post-crash images.
