Edward A. “Trip” Casson III, chairman and CEO of Southern Lithoplate Inc., Wake Forest, N.C., announced Wednesday that Ogden Newspapers Inc. will deploy Southern Lithoplate’s CtP Alliance solution of Tiger V violet plates, ECRM Imaging Systems’ Mako NewsMatic 250 platesetters and Presteligence Inc.’s NewsXtreme workflow at 12 of its sites throughout the year.
The move culminates a transition to an all-digital workflow that Wheeling, W.Va.-based Ogden began two years ago, when a similar agreement led to implementation at 12 production sites of thermal platesetters imaging Viper 830 thermal lithoplates. The thermal CTP consumables partnership with Ogden continues along with the new violet CTP program.
As part of the new agreement with Ogden, Southern Lithoplate will direct system installation and integration of ECRM violet-laser platesetters and Presteligence NewsXtreme workflow-management systems.
Family-owned Ogden publishes 40 dailies, several weeklies and shoppers in 12 states, from Florida to New York and as far west as Hawaii. Affiliate Ogden Publications Inc., Topeka, Kan., publishes rural-lifestyle magazines, including the well-known Grit, Capper’s and Mother Earth News.
ECRM, headquartered in Tewksbury, Mass., joined the Southern Lithoplate CtP Alliance for Violet CtP earlier this year. Southern Lithoplate is marketing ECRM’s line of Mako automatic and semiautomatic newspaper CTP solutions, including the Newsmatic HS plus, which made its North American debut at Nexpo in April.
Workflow software develope Presteligence, based in North Canton, Ohio, has been a CtP Alliance member since 2006.
