The Ohio County Public Library is giving away pieces of history.
To make space, the library is offering to residents all its paper editions of The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register between 1875 and 1950. World War I, World II and the Great Depression are just some of the events covered during that period.
Michael Baker, secretary and treasurer of the library’s Board of Trustees, says history buffs can have a field day looking through the newspapers.
Baker says the paper editions can’t be displayed at the library because they have deteriorated.
The newspapers will be distributed Saturday at the Wheeling library in bound books containing two to three months’ editions. Single editions aren’t available.
