MediaSpan’s Harris & Baseview division, Melbourne, Fla., and Ann Arbor, Mich., sold a Jazbox editorial front-end system to The Times, a Gannett daily based in Shreveport, La., and circulating 64,636 copies daily (79,939 Sunday) throughout 13 Louisiana parishes, five counties in Texas and two in Arkansas. Jazbox allows local or remote reporters, editors and page designers to work together. Integrating Adobe InDesign and InCopy, it utilizes a background output engine to produce pages on deadline. The Jazbox Data Center database stores all text files, graphics, images and pages, as well as all native file types, giving access to all tools and elements needed for efficient print publication production. The sale included the customizable Jazbox Content Syndicator content-transformation tool that, based on customer profiles, can automatically generate multiple versions of objects, converting them into different file types with different attributes.
