The Mochila syndication service — which offers print, audio, video, and photo content — announced today that it has secured $8 million in a second round of financing.
Charles River Ventures of Waltham, Mass., led the round, while Mochila’s previous investors (Mission Ventures, The Greenspun Corporation, and Jerry Colonna) also participated.
Mochila “members” include wire services (such as the Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times-Washington Post News Service) as well as newspapers, magazines, and Web sites.
Mochila — launched last April — enables sellers to upload content to its site and then set prices, embargoes, exclusions, and other licensing rules. Buyers search for content, review the prices and licensing terms, and purchase their choices. Content is then downloaded to their computer. There are also online advertising and revenue-sharing opportunities.
