“Open Season” is still doing well at the box office after its third weekend.

The animated movie — which a syndicated cartoonist helped create — grossed $11 million. It finished fourth behind “The Grudge 2” ($22 million), “The Departed ($18.7 million), and “Man of the Year” ($12.55 million).

“Open Season” is based on a story by “In the Bleachers” cartoonist Steve Moore and John Carls. Moore (of Universal Press Syndicate) and Carls are also executive producers of the film, which features animals who turn against their hunters.

The movie’s voice cast includes Martin Lawrence, Ashton Kutcher, Debra Messing, and Gary Sinise.
