The Kid Scoop syndicate has put together a special page, available to all newspapers free of charge, detailing how children can help other children affected by Hurricane Katrina.

“Kids Care, Too!” is available as a full or half page, and in color or black and white.

The page says one way children can help is via the “Backpack Brigade,” based on an idea by Michelle Martin Streeby of the Redding, Calif., Record Searchlight — a Kid Scoop client. Students can send backpacks containing school supplies and a personal note for students displaced by Katrina and the flooding. Backpacks should be sent to Region 20 Educational Service Center, 1314 Hines St., San Antonio, TX 78208, Att: Backpack Brigade.
