Palm Beach Post Publisher Retires After 23 Years In Job

The Palm Beach Post’s publisher will retire after nearly 23 years in the post, Cox Newspapers Inc. said Friday.

Tom Giuffrida’s retirement will be effective May 1. He will be replaced by Doug Franklin, president and CEO of Cox Ohio Publishing and publisher of the Dayton Daily News.

“For nearly 23 years The Palm Beach Post has had one publisher, Tom Giuffrida. It could not have asked for a better one,” said Jay Smith, president of Cox Newspapers. “Tom has always made service to the community the highest priority.”

Giuffrida, 62, joined Atlanta-based Cox Newspapers in 1979 as promotion director for The Atlanta Journal and Atlanta Constitution. He later went on to serve as circulation director and general manager.

In 1985, Giuffrida assumed his current position as publisher of Palm Beach Newspapers, overseeing operations at The Palm Beach Post, PalmBeachPost.com, the Palm Beach Daily News, the Florida Pennysaver and the Spanish-language publication La Palma.
